At approximately 1:55 p. m. today, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers investigated a two vehicle traffic crash in the 1600 block of Texas 171 in Cresson (Hood County).

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2009 Dodge pickup, driven by 38-year-old Julian Hamilton, Jr. of Deridder, LA, was traveling southbound on Texas 171.  For an as yet undetermined reason, the Dodge lost control  while negotiating a curve in the road.  The roadway was wet from recent rainfall. The Dodge began to skid sideways, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a 2006 Toyota pickup head-on. Hamilton, his wife Dacie, and their three male children ages three, five, and eight, were all transported by ground ambulances to Fort Worth area hospitals. The driver of the Toyota, Mike Hemm, 57, of Early and his 22-year-old son, were flown by air ambulance to a hospital in Fort Worth.  The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
