Scammers Continue To Dupe The Elderly

The Hood County Sheriff’s Office receives reports almost every day where elderly victims have been tricked into sending money to scammers. There are so many different ways to be scammed, so it hard to explain them all. The core of all scams is to gain your confidence and then ask for money. When asked to send money please call the Hood County Sheriff’s Office or consult a family member at the least. Family members caring for the elderly should check their bank statements for suspicious charges. Investigating theses type of cases are difficult, due to most are being perpetrated from other countries.

Quote from Roger Deeds:
“It breaks my heart to see elderly victims duped out of money that they worked hard for and is for their retirement years, not some scammer in a foreign country.”
