Last Days of 2017 Bring Charges Of Public Servant Assaults, Felony Possession And More

Disturbance lands man in jail on felonies

On 12-31-17 around 7pm Hood County
Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the
3600 block of Woodlake Dr. ref. a
disturbance.
Deputies were told Cody Wayne Claridge
(27 yoa) was causing a disturbance and
possibly having a drug overdose.
Claridge was transported to the Lake
Granbury Medical Center.
During the visit, Claridge assaulted a Deputy
by kneeing them in the face.

The Deputy was treated at the hospital and
was not seriously injured.
Claridge was eventually released from the
hospital and was transported to the Hood
County Jail.
During which, Claridge assaulted a jailer in
the shoulder and chest with his feet.
The jailer was transported to LGMC, where
he was treated and released.
The jailer was not seriously injured during
the assault.
Claridge, who was also in possession of
under a gram of meth was charged with 2
counts of Assault on a Public Servant (felony
3) and Possession of a Controlled Substance
(state jail felony).

Due to Claridge’s combative attitude, a
bond has yet to be set. So he is currently in
jail at press time.

 

Suspect arrested for Injury to a Child

On 12-30-17 around 1230pm, Hood County
Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the
4400 block of Carter Ct. ref. an assault.
Deputies discovered Douglas Lee Smith (19
yoa) allegedly struck a 6 year old boy in the
head with a broom handle.

The victim was not seriously injured during
the incident.
Smith was arrested and charged with Injury
to a Child (state jail felony-bond $5,000).
Smith is currently in jail at press time.

 

 

Suspect throws marijuana out window

On 12-27-17 around 630pm, Hood County
Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a traffic
stop at the 3700 block of Hwy. 377 East.
Before the stop, Anthony Lamont Person Jr.
(33 yoa) tossed out a bag of marijuana in
front of the Deputy.
Person was also found to be in possession
of multiple ecstasy pills and buspirone pills.
Person was arrested and charged with
Man/Del of a Controlled Substance (felony
2-bond $15,000), Tampering with Evidence
(felony 3-bond $7,500), Possession of a
Dangerous Drug (class A misd-bond $2,000), and Possession of Marijuana (class B misd-
bond $1,000).

Person is currently in jail at press time.
