Granbury Police Department received a 911 call reporting a man dragging a woman’s body and loading her into a vehicle in the neighborhood of Abe’s Landing, located at 3300 Weatherford Hwy, Granbury, TX 76049.
When officers arrived at the scene, the body was lying next to the vehicle, and the suspect was catching his breath. When questioned on what happened, Joseph Scala, 72, confessed that he suffocated his wife, Betty Scala, also 72.

The couple is from Arlington, but Betty was currently staying in Granbury with a friend. Joseph was not staying in Granbury, but apparently made the trip in order to commit the murder. At the time of the incident, Betty was the only one in the household.

Joseph Scala is being charged with first degree murder, and is currently in processing at the Hood County Jail.
