HCSO: Man Arrested For Threatening Tax Collectors

October 23, 2017

Man arrested for threatening tax collectors

On Friday around 11pm, Hood County
Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested
64 year old Charles Holley Rowney and
charged him with Terroristic Threat of a
Government Employee (felony 3-bond
$15,000).

The charge stems from Rowney allegedly
making threats earlier in the week to
the Hood County Appraisal District and
Hood County Tax Assessor Collector Office
employees, that he was going to bring a
shotgun with him to fix his taxes and made
threats of a “hit” on an elected official.

Rowney was upset over an Agricultural
exemption and having to pay taxes at 2
different locations as of September 2017.

“Rowney’s arrest sends a strong message to
would be troublemakers that this kind of
behavior will not be tolerated in Hood
County.”– Sheriff Roger Deeds

Rowney is currently out of jail on bond at
press time.
