GISD SCHOOL BOARD TO ACCEPT RESIGNATION OF PLACE 7 TRUSTEE BOB SWEARINGEN
June 26, 2020
The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, to accept the resignation of Place 7 trustee Bob Swearingen.
Swearingen’s resignation follows the school board member posting an inappropriate meme on his personal Facebook page.
Speaking for other members of the school board, President Mark A. Jackson said, “What he posted was appalling. We are in no way comfortable with it, and frankly we are disappointed in Mr. Swearingen.”
“While we commend Mr. Swearingen for his public service on the school board for the last several months, we appreciate him understanding the severity of his social media post and the need to step down,” Jackson continued.
Swearingen was elected to the Place 7 post for a three-year term in November 2019. At the special meeting, the board will consider adding the position to the November 2020 election to fill the remaining two years on the term.
The special meeting for June 30 will begin at 4:00 P.M. Board meetings are held in the GISD Board Room located in the Administration Building at 217 N. Jones Street.
