Finance Department Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
The City of Granbury has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year.
Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America. The City of Granbury is one of over 1,600 participants in the program.
For the City to receive the budget award, it had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as:
- a policy document
- a financial plan
- an operations guide, and
- a communications device.
This award was not only presented to the City, but also recognized the individuals who were primarily responsible for the achievement. Those individuals are City Manager Chris Coffman, Director of Finance Eva Gregory, and Assistant Finance Director Elizabeth Bailey.

In addition to the outstanding budget presentation in 2018-19, the Finance Department also launched a financial transparency platform to further increase its effectiveness and accountability and earn greater public trust. OpenGov, which can be accessed at www.granbury.org/opengov, updates daily with the City’s financial information. Granbury’s citizens, Councilmembers, staff, and customers can all go online 24/7 from any device and see where tax dollars are being spent.
