Early Morning Motorcycle Involved Fatality Accident Prompts DPS to Ask for Witnesses

Granbury – On 04/07/2019 at approximately 3:30 a.m., DPS Troopers were called to a crash on US377 west of Cresson in Hood County. Preliminary investigation indicates two Harley Davidson motorcycles were traveling west on US 377 when one collided with the other in heavy fog. Both drivers were ejected from their motorcycles.

One of the drivers, Coy Rohde, 27 of Granbury, was lying in the inside lane of US 377 and was struck by a passing pickup truck. For an as yet undetermined reason, the driver of the pickup truck failed to stop and render aid. A westbound truck tractor/semi trailer was able to avoid the pickup truck but ran over a motorcycle.

Coy Rohde was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Kathy Gwinn. The driver of the second motorcycle, Jeremy Salyers, 26 of Weatherford, was transported by personal vehicle to the Weatherford Hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

DPS Troopers are seeking information about the pickup and driver involved in this incident. Witnesses indicate the pickup may have been a General Motors vehicle; white, gray or silver in color. The truck, according to witnesses had several occupants inside.

Troopers are asking the driver or occupants of this pickup to come forward. Anyone with information regarding this truck is asked to please contact the Texas Highway Patrol in Granbury at 817 579 3337 or the Hood County sheriff’s Department at 817 579 3307.
