Deputy injured during foot chase

On 5-9-21 around 730pm, Hood County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 3200 block of Tumbleweed Lane ref. locating Roger Paul Goldberg III (34 yoa), who had a felony drug warrant (no bond) for his arrest.
Deputies located Goldberg, who fled on foot and after chasing him approx. 2 miles were able to take him into custody.
During the arrest, Goldberg struck a Deputy in the head during a scuffle and when he was placed in the patrol unit, he damaged a vehicle door by kicking it.

The Deputy was treated with a head injury at LGMC and later released and is in good condition.
Goldberg was charged with Assault on a Peace Officer (felony 2-bond $30,000), Evading Arrest with Previous Conviction (state jail felony-bond $5,000), and Criminal Mischief (class B misd-bond $2,000).
Goldberg is currently in jail at press time.
