Hit and Run suspect arrested

On Tuesday, September 5th around 3pm, 57 year old Leonard Clyde Harkness turned himself in at the Hood County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop
and Render Aid/Accident Involving Death (felony 2–bond $40,000) in connection with the death of 46 year old Martine Ann Turrey, who died on 2-13-17 on Tin Top Hwy. in a hit and run accident.

The case was a joint investigation with the Hood County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers. Investigators have worked hard on this “who done it case” and have put in countless hours investigating multiple leads in the last 6 months.

Harkness is accused of hitting Turrey with a vehicle on Tin Top Hwy. and failing to report it to Law Enforcement.

Harkness is currently in jail at press time.
