City Adopts 10-Year Plan for Parks, Recreation, and Open Space
On February 18, 2020, Granbury City Council voted unanimously to adopt a new Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan. Read the adopted plan at www.granbury.org/parksplan.
The Parks and Recreation Department has spent the past six months working with the regional consulting firm Halff Associates to develop a plan for a diverse and exciting parks, recreation, and open space system that enhances the City’s quality of life for years to come.
The purpose of the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan is to provide guidance to the City of Granbury and the decisions that it makes regarding parks, recreation, and open space over the next 10 years. A plan was last adopted in 2010.
Throughout the process of creating the plan, the City held public meetings and facilitated surveys to get community feedback on the needs for the future of parks and recreation in Granbury. Through the engagement process and needs assessment, specific goals were identified. Each goal has subsequent related objectives and actions:
- Park Accessibility
- Park Design and Maintenance
- System Connectivity
- Community Character
- Recreational Tourism
- Partnerships
