Intoxicated Man Abuses Hood County’s 911 Texting Service

May 16, 2017

On Monday, May 15th around 8 p.m., Hood County Sheriff’s Office began receiving text messages through 911 from 46 year old Shaun E. Taylor. Taylor claimed that the bar on M & M Ranch Road, a block away from his home, had over served him. Although Taylor was warned several times by dispatchers to not abuse the 911 through text message services, he continued to text non emergency messages. He began calling dispatchers and deputies names. Taylor insisted that the local bar be investigated for over serving and over charging him.

During the incident, Taylor sent a total of 35 harassing messages to the 911 system, keeping deputies and dispatchers busy for several hours.

On the third contact with Taylor, Deputies placed him under arrest and charged him with Abuse of 911- a Class B misdemeanor with a bond of $1,000.

Taylor is currently out of jail on bond at press time.

Moral of the story: Don’t text and drink alcohol, have a designated cell phone holder. -CID Lt. Johnny Rose
