Suicidal threats lead to felony arrest
On Wednesday, May 10th around 10pm, Hood County Sheriff’s Office Deputies received a welfare check on 53 year old Terry Ray Vanlandingham, who was threatening suicide to his wife by phone.
At 11pm, Vanlandingham was located by Deputies at the Indian Harbor Security Gate on Contrary Creek Rd.
Vanlandingham then fled from Deputies in his vehicle and Deputies gave chase.
Vanlandingham went to the 3900 block of Contrary Creek Rd. and made a U-turn then traveled back to the Indian Harbor Gate. Vanlandingham broke through the Indian Harbor Security gate arm and ended up at the 1200 block of Iowa Ct., where Deputies were in a 3 hour standoff with him.
Vanlandingham was in possession of a
shotgun and was threatening to harm
himself.
Around 2am, Vanlandingham surrendered without incident and was taken into custody by Deputies.
Vanlandingham never threatened any
Officers during the standoff.
Vanlandingham was charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle (felony 3-bond $10,000) and Felony Possession of a Firearm (felony 3-bond $10,000).

Vanlandingham is currently in jail at press time.

“Dealing with suicidal people is a very dangerous call for my Deputies. They were very professional and were able to take Vanlandingham into custody without anyone getting hurt, so I’m very proud of my Deputies. I also appreciate the DPS Troopers and Granbury PD Officers for helping out during the standoff.” – Sheriff Roger Deeds
