Deputy assaulted during disturbance call
On 12-17-20 around 5pm, Hood County
Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a
disturbance at the 8500 block of Mitchell
Bend Ct. at a local convenience store.
Deputies discovered Nathaniel Ray Sanders
(32 yoa) had an argument with the store
clerk and appeared intoxicated.
Deputies located Sanders outside the store
and during questioning, Sanders ran from
Deputies.
After a short foot pursuit, a scuffle ensued
and Sanders punched one of the Deputies in
the face and grabbed his Pepper Ball pistol and tried to fire it at Deputies, before it was secured by Deputies.
Sanders was eventually handcuffed and
placed under arrest.
One Deputy has a broken nose and broken
hand and was treated at LGMC and was
released later in fair condition.
Sanders was charged with Aggravated
Assault on a Peace officer (felony 1), Taking
a Weapon from a Peace Officer (state jail
felony), Evading Arrest (class A misd),
Resisting Arrest (class A misd), and Public
Intoxication Enhanced (class B misd).
Sanders has not been arraigned by a judge
at press time.
