On October 26, 2019 at approximately 2:15 p. m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers investigated a one vehicle fatality crash on State Highway 171 in the city of Cresson in Hood County.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 1998 Dodge Dakota pickup was traveling north on SH 171. The Dodge veered into the southbound lane of SH 171, possibly due to a medical condition suffered by the driver, Johnnie W. Luckie, 84, of Weatherford. The Dodge continued to travel and went through the barrow ditch before striking a business sign and turning over onto its side. Luckie died at the scene.
