Suicidal Man Ties Up Deputies and Dispatch

On 8-25-19 around 6pm, Hood County
Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call from
a suicide hotline in ref. to Nicholas
Christopher Dunaway making suicidal
threats.
Dunaway is accused of telling the hotline he
had shot himself, causing multiple Deputies
to be pulled off other calls to assist at the
400 block of Timberline Dr.
The call lasted over 2 hours and Deputies
found out Dunaway made the whole thing
up and was never shot.

Dunaway was arrested and charged with
False Report or Alarm (class A misd-bond is
not set).

Quote from Sheriff Roger Deeds:
“I’m saddened and frustrated that limited
county resources were tied up when we have people that really need help in Hood County. I want my Deputies assisting
citizens and not getting hurt over a made-
up story.”
