Granbury- On Friday June 21, 2019 the Texas Highway Patrol investigated multiple crashes in Hood County.

At approximately 4:30 am, Troopers were called to a crash involving a 2016 Mack Truck Tractor  towing a bucket trailer filled with sand. The truck was driven by Mitchell Marshall, 30 years old from Cleburne, who was traveling north on FM 3450 north of Granbury when he apparently fell asleep and drove off the west side of the roadway where the truck rolled onto its left side, spilling the load of sand. Marshall was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital by air ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

At approximately 9:20 am, Troopers were notified of a crash involving two vehicles at the second FM 2425 and State Highway 144 south of Granbury. Upon arrival, Troopers found that a 2012 Chevrolet Truck, driven by Frankie Mabery,  66 years of age from Granbury was traveling west on FM 2425 and had stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of State Highway 144 to turn south.  A 2001 Ford Expedition driven by Lucinda Hautman, 35 of Rainbow, was traveling north on SH 144 approaching FM 2425. As the Ford Expedition was passing by FM 2425, the driver of the Chevrolet truck turned left from FM 2425 and struck the Expedition on the right side with the front of the Chevrolet. Neither driver was injured. Mr. Mabery was issued a citation for Fail to yield right of way-stop sign.

As the Troopers were investigating the crash at FM 2425 and SH 144, a report came in on a Hit and Run driver traveling through  the Hideaway Bay area north of Granbury around 10:00 am. Two vehicles were struck by a White SUV of some type in two different areas of Hideaway Bay, according to witnesses. If anyone has any information about this vehicle, please contact the Texas Highway Patrol in Granbury at 817 -579-3337 or the Hood County Sheriff’s Office at 817-579-3307.

While the Troopers were investigating the two hit and run incidents, they were called to another crash on Old Granbury Road  just east of FM 167. When the Troopers arrived, they found a 1998 GMC truck , driven by Wanda Hart, 58 of Granbury was traveling west on Old Granbury Road  and a Cement truck , driven by Jeff Caldwell, 49 of Granbury was traveling east on Old Granbury Road. Both vehicles were entering the same curve traveling towards one another when the GMC truck driven by Wanda Hart failed to give half of the roadway and struck the Cement truck head on. Wanda Hart was transported by air ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth for treatment of her injuries. The driver of the cement truck was not injured.

Later in the day at approximately 3:00 pm, Troopers were notified of a crash involving a motorcycle on FM 2580. Upon arrival the Troopers found that a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Chris Bray, 67 years of age from Weatherford was traveling north on FM 2580 and drove straight through a left curve and into a culvert and crashed.
