Granbury– According to preliminary reports, at approximately 5:45 pm,on Wednesday June 19, 2019, the Texas Highway Patrol was notified of a three vehicle crash on FM 4 (Lipan Highway) at Hill Country Court 7 miles northwest of Granbury. Upon arrival the Troopers found that a 2019 Ford Pickup truck, driven by Jacob Cytacki, 27 of Granbury, was traveling south on FM 4 following behind a 2004 Ford van, driven by Carrie Ellinger, 58 of Lipan.
The Ford van slowed down and stopped to make a left turn onto Hill Country Ct. The driver of the van was waiting on a 2004 Chevrolet Pickup truck, driven by Gino Gomez, 32 of Eastland, who was traveling north on FM 4 approaching the van to pass by.
The driver of the Ford truck did not see the Ford van stop and the driver of the Ford truck took faulty evasive action and steered into the north bound lane. The Ford truck struck both the Ford van and the Chevrolet truck. The Chevrolet truck then caught fire with the driver pinned inside the truck. Witnesses stated a passing motorist stopped and extinguished the fire and helped the driver out of the track. The driver of the Chevrolet truck, Gino Gomez was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth by air ambulance and is in stable condition. The drivers of the Ford van and Ford truck received minor injuries and were not treated. Jacob Cytacki was cited for failure to control speed.
The Highway Patrol is trying to identify the good Samaritan who stopped to assist.
