Disturbance Leads To Multiple Charges

On 6-8-19 around 1130am Hood County
Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a
disturbance at the 3300 block of Quail Ridge
Ct.
Deputies discovered Joshua Lee Byrd (25
yoa) allegedly held his 40-year-old girlfriend
at knife point during an argument.
Deputies were able to enter the home and
safely take Byrd into custody.
The victim was not seriously injured during
the incident.

Byrd was charged with Aggravated Assault
with a Deadly Weapon (felony 2-bond
$25,000), Unlawful Restraint (felony 3-bond
$15,000), and Possession of Marijuana
(class B misd-bond $1,000).
A search warrant was executed by Hood
County Sheriff’s Office Investigators on the
home and Shawna Larue Cogburn (22 yoa)
was found to be in possession of multiple
pieces of identifying information and under
a gram of meth.
Cogburn was arrested and charged with
Fraudulent Possession of Identifying Infor
mation (felony 3-bond $7,500) and
Possession of a Controlled Substance (state
jail felony-bond $5,000).

The case is still under investigation and
charges are pending on a third person
involved in this case.
Byrd and Cogburn are both currently in jail
at press time.
