Hood County Citizen Security Camera Registration Program

Do you have security cameras at your business or home? If so, the Hood County
Sheriff’s Office would like to know. Why? Video surveillance is one of the best
methods for identifying persons engaging in criminal activity. Many business and
homes already have security cameras installed. In order to serve the citizens of Hood County in the best possible way, the Hood County Sheriff’s Office would like to
create a database for any business or homes that have security cameras.
By creating a security camera database, the Hood County Sheriff’ Office could
quickly identify nearby cameras on the outside of your business or home that may
have captured criminal activity. After registering your camera, you would only be
contacted by law enforcement officers if criminal activity occurred in your area that
your security cameras may have captured. If needed, law enforcement officers may
ask to review or obtain a copy of your security camera footage to aid in the
investigation. Even if you do not know how to export video footage from your security camera system yourself, there are law enforcement officers available that can
export the video footage for you with your consent.
The Hood County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to serving the citizens of Hood County in the best possible way available. The Hood County Sheriff’s Office believes that this program is another method to serve its citizens. The security camera database that would be created would not be just solely for the Hood County Sheriff’s Office but would be shared with all law enforcement agencies in Hood County.
If your business or home has external security cameras and you would like to be
included in the database, please send your name, address and phone number to the
following email address:
greynolds@co.hood.tx.us
The Hood County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank you for your cooperation in
setting up this database in order to serve the citizens of Hood County in the best way
possible.
