Granbury, Texas – On Saturday, June 16, at approximately 5:20 p.m., City of Granbury police officers responded to a call at Granbury City Beach Park (505 E. Pearl St.) in reference to a possible drowning.
When officers arrived, two juvenile witnesses stated that they observed the male victim, who was identified as 22-year-old Michar Deon Harrison Jr. of Ft. Worth, Texas, swimming toward the boardwalk and he looked like he might be having some trouble right before he got there. The witnesses stated that after they saw him go underwater and when they saw someone else calling 9-1-1 they jumped in the water and went out to try to help him, but he was already underwater and they were unable to locate him.
Three police officers entered the water in an attempt to locate the victim, and later located him at the bottom of the swimming area in approximately 10-12 feet of water. Officers pulled him to the surface where the crew of the fire/rescue vessel lifted him out of the water. The victim was immediately transported to the waiting emergency medical personnel and transported to Lake Granbury Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead as a result of drowning.
