New signals to improve safety and mobility

GRANBURY – In the interest of enhancing mobility and safety, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be installing flashing yellow arrow signals at various intersections on US 377 in Granbury. Installation should begin this summer and will take approximately 30 days, weather permitting.

Flashing yellow arrow left-turn signals are the new nationwide standard for signals where a driver must yield to oncoming traffic to turn left. They are being gradually phased in to replace the traditional circular green signals currently used to let drivers know that they must yield on green.

The four signals that will be updated are:
• US 377 at Overstreet Boulevard
• US 377 at Waters Edge Drive
• US 377 at Hill Boulevard
• US 377 at Harbor Lakes Drive

A second signal upgrade project is being developed within the Granbury area which will include the signals on US 377 from FM 167 to Loop 567 and SH 144 from FM 51 to Contrary Creek Road. This project will be a complete upgrade of all the signals, including evaluation of flashing yellow arrows, new heads, communication, controllers and detection. The project is estimated to begin by late 2019.
