Community Invited to Veterans Day Ceremony, Parade on Sat, November 10
The community leaders of the Veterans Day Committee are hosting a special commemoration of Veterans Day at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Granbury High School Auditorium (2000 W. Pearl St.). Those unable to attend the ceremony in person can watch live online at livestream.com/GranburyTV/VeteransDay2018.
The program will feature a keynote presentation by a special guest speaker, Robin Greer, MA – U.S. Navy 2nd Class Petty Officer, music provided by the Acton Middle School Mixed Choir, and ceremonial elements honoring our nation’s veterans.
The committee has also been collaborating with schools in Hood County to develop an essay contest for students. The contest theme is “What Veterans Day Means to Me,” and contest winners will be announced at the ceremony on November 10.
Following this special recognition of our veterans, a parade will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10 starting at the Granbury ISD Administration Building, running down Pearl St., and traveling around the Historic Granbury Square. For those who would like to participate in the parade, the parade entry form and additional information can be found on the Granbury Chamber of Commerce website.
The City of Granbury and the community leaders who are hosting this special commemorative event are extremely appreciative of all our veterans. We hope that the community will join us in recognizing these courageous men and women and the sacrifices they have made in the service of our nation.
