City Beach Reopens following Recent Drownings

July 7, 2018

The city beach park at 505 E. Pearl st. had been temporarily closed since July 5, while the city implemented additional safety measures, following two drownings in the last 3 weeks.

Here are the additional measures that have been taken:

  • Perimeter buoy markers were provided by the Brazos River Authority, and were installed at depths of 5.5 to 6 feet
  • The Granbury Police Department will have officers provide security services.
  • All visitors must enter the City Beach park from the west entrance, (near the bathrooms/parking)
  • The city staff is in the process of researching and developing a crowd capacity policy.
