We reached out to Landon Gray and asked him a few questions about the big news. He seems to be very excited and ready for this amazing adventure ahead of him.

Were you nervous during the draft? ‘It’s nerve wracking knowing your name could possibly roll across that board out of so many players. At the same time, it’s so exciting and I can’t even begin to explain the feeling of finally see it. It’s all so crazy to think about. It happened so fast but it’s beyond exciting.’

When did you realize this is the path you wanted to follow in life? ‘At a very young. age. I had a strong love for the game and it continued to grow as I grew. Baseball has made such an impact on my life. I’ve always wanted to succeed in it and I like I haven’t quite got it done yet but I’m still working on it.’

How does it feel to be the hard working kid from a small town who was just drafted to the Major Leagues? ‘Oh man. It’s a dream come true. I’m just extremely blessed just for the opportunity and I give all glory to God for it. There’s so many people who have spent countless hours and time just enjoying the with me and that makes it even sweeter. It’s extremely humbling and words can’t describe it.’

Who has inspired you? ‘Many people inspire me but my family and people closest to me inspire me the most. The support and motivation they provide is unreal. I’ve had several coaches and friends who have pushed me and held me to high expectations. Many hours of practice and hard work have been thanks to my friends and coaches. The competition with fellow team mates have made me push myself that much harder. I’ve grown from that.’

What gets you pumped? How do you prepare for a game? ‘I try to stay relaxed and focused before and during a game. Baseball is a game of failure and to be able to stay calm and cool in times of hardship is key. I always try and stay focused before the games whether it’s listening to music or just keeping to myself! Staying relaxed and having fun is the key!’
