The Pirates advanced to the post-season for the sixth straight year, after placing fourth in District 9-5A.  The boys faced Waxahachie in a bi-district playoff series, falling to the Indians in two games during the best-of-three series.  Granbury has qualified for the post-season eight of the last nine years.
Four players were named to the all-district team.  Earning first-team honors were pitcher Matthew Hickey, first baseman Kade Turnage, and outfielder Rustin Beasley. Catcher Corbin Harris received second-team accolades from the district.
A senior, Hickey was on last season’s first team, named to the second team in 2015, and received an honorable mention nod in 2013, when he was a freshman.
Team awards went to Matthew Hickey as the overall Most Valuable Player.  Kade Turnage was the Offensive MVP, Corbin Harris was the Defensive MVP, and Wesley Case was Pitcher of the Year.
Rustin Beasely earned Academic All-State honors.  Others receiving Academic All-District recognition were Wesley Case, Braeden DeRouen, Matthew Hickey, Cade Hicks, Josh Johnson, Cash McKay, Lachlyn McPhie, Justin Molder, Kade Turnage, Chance Turney, and Andrew Walters.
In addition to Granbury, District 9-5A is composed of Arlington Seguin, Burleson, Burleson Centennial, Cleburne, Crowley, Everman, and Joshua.
