Granbury Independent School District has been selected as a CTE District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT), an honor recognizing districts across the state that demonstrate exemplary leadership and innovation in career and technical education.
The recognition, announced on November 4, 2025, acknowledges Granbury ISD’s commitment to student success through high-quality Career and Technical Education programs. According to the district, the award highlights districts that excel in workforce readiness, foster innovation in CTE, and contribute to student achievement and community impact.
Program Scope and Participation
Granbury ISD’s CTE programs span 12 of 14 Texas Education Agency-approved career clusters and employ 40 CTE teachers at Granbury High School, with additional instructors across middle schools. The district’s offerings include engineering, health science, business, agriculture, culinary arts, law enforcement, and aviation.
Student participation in the programs remains substantial. During the 2024-25 school year, 94 percent of Granbury High School students enrolled in at least one CTE course, with the average student taking 1.8 courses. Students compete in ten Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) at the state and national level.
Student Achievements and Growth
The 2024-25 school year saw students earn 591 industry-based certifications (IBCs). Additionally, 298 seniors graduated having earned at least one certification during their high school years. The district has experienced significant growth over four years, with districtwide certifications increasing from 109 in the 2020-21 school year to 591 in the current year.
According to Superintendent Dr. Courtney Morawski, the recognition reflects the work of CTE teachers and student engagement. “Our CTE teachers pour their hearts into preparing students for real-world success, and our students rise to the challenge. Being named a CTE District of Distinction shows that Granbury ISD is committed to building a strong workforce, supporting local industry, and preparing our students to be future ready,” Morawski stated.
CTE Director Todd Gibson attributed the district’s success to collaboration with local industry and committed instruction. “Our goal is to equip students with real-world experiences and highly marketable skills before they leave high school. This distinction from CTAT affirms that our programs are growing in the right direction and providing meaningful, career-ready opportunities for students across the district,” Gibson said.
District Recognition and Implications
The CTE District of Distinction designation is based on rigorous criteria including innovative programming, industry-based certifications, alignment with workforce needs, and student outcomes. Selected districts serve as models of excellence within Texas education.
As a recognized district, Granbury ISD gains access to new opportunities for collaboration with educational and workforce development leaders, potentially advancing the district’s mission of preparing students for success in a changing economy. The programs combine real-world learning with hands-on experience, allowing students to earn industry-recognized certifications and college credit before graduation.
