Granbury High School Senior Hannah Dafoe Honored as WFAA Scholar-Athlete of the Week

November 7, 2025

Granbury High School senior Hannah Dafoe has been named the WFAA Scholar-Athlete of the Week by Dallas sportscaster Joe Trahan. The recognition aired on WFAA Channel 8’s “Sports Special with Joe Trahan” on November 3, 2025.

Dafoe ranks in the top three percent of her graduating class and is a two-sport athlete for the Lady Pirates, competing in basketball and softball. In softball she earned District 5-5A first team all-district honors and was named the 2025 Team MVP. She has also received academic awards from both athletic programs.

Academically, Dafoe has excelled as well: she posted a perfect 36 on the ACT reading section and remains active in several school and community organizations, including the Junior Optimist Club, Superintendent’s Leadership Council, and National Honor Society. Her volunteer work includes service with her church youth group and Mission Granbury.

Looking ahead, Dafoe plans to pursue a degree in aerospace engineering with minors in civil and mechanical engineering. She is currently exploring college options to support these goals.

The WFAA Scholar-Athlete of the Week program, sponsored by Buick/GMC, honors North Texas high school seniors who excel in athletics, academics and community service. Nominees must rank in the top 15 percent of their class and demonstrate meaningful contributions to their school and community.

Dafoe’s selection recognizes her strong combination of academic achievement, athletic success and community involvement — the qualities central to the program’s mission of honoring well-rounded student leaders in the region.
