Death Investigation ongoing

****Death Investigation News Release****

On Friday, August 12, 2022, at about 8:46 AM, Deputies with the Hood County Sheriff’s Office responded to report of a located deceased person in about the 8000 block of Contrary Creek Rd Granbury, Hood County, Texas. 

Upon arriving on scene, Deputies located a deceasedmale, at the entrance to a gas well site, who appeared to have been there for an unknown extended period of time.The person who located the male is cooperating with the investigation. Upon completing the on-sceneinvestigation, the body was sent to American Forensics in Mesquite, Texas for an autopsy where fingerprints were obtained and later used to identify the male as Chance Allen Meazell (21 years old). All cases, such as this, are considered criminal investigations until determined otherwise, however the circumstances surrounding the cause of death and how Chance came to be where he was located are unknown at this time and still under investigation. Currently there is no further information available. 

Chance Allen Meazell was a citizen of Hood County and his family was notified after he was identified.
