Hood County COVID-19 Interim Update – 8/12/2021
This is an update based on numbers and concerns from reports received on positive cases in the community from DSHS for Hood County.
There are 137 Active Cases reported as of today. Hood County has seen an 86.23% percent increase of positive cases in the last seven day period. This is a 51.59% percent decrease from the last report.
We are at 143 total COVID-19 positive deaths reported by DSHS for Hood County residents. (7 new deaths since 7/20/2021)
We have tested a total of 72,580 citizens in Hood County. (This is total test administered not individual’s tested)
Our TSA Regional Hospital Rate as of today is17.09% (2.09.% over the 15% threshold required by the state.)
19 currently reported local hospitalizations, all other active cases have been directed to self-isolate at home.

Hospital volumes for COVID-19 have increased 44.00% compared to one week ago. This is an increase from last report.
Regionally there are only 74 Adult ICU beds available and 2 NIC ICU beds available.
Every seven days Hood County is seeing 14 new hospital admissions for COVID-19. No change since last report
Every seven days Hood County is seeing a 38.1% increase in the use of ICU beds for COVID-19 patients this is a big increase since last report.
Hood County is currently at aHIGH risk of COVID-19 transmission as of August 2, 2021.
The local Public Health Authority, in accordance with CDC and Texas DSHS recommendations encourages vaccination by everyone eligible (including teens 12 and older), mask wearing by individuals who have not been completely vaccinated against COVID-19 (including children over the age of 2), and continues to encourage social distancing as well.
