City Pool Set to Open June 2 at 50 Percent Capacity

Granbury, Texas – The Dana Vollmer Municipal Swim Center, also known as the Granbury City Pool, located at 400 North Park Drive in Granbury, will open to the public at 50 percent of capacity on Tuesday, June 2. However, the slide at the pool and the splash pad at the City Beach Park will remain closed to follow COVID-19 guidelines as set out in Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Strike Force to Open Texas plans.

“We will be making some adjustments to our normal operations to meet certain restrictions, such as monitoring our capacity, removing some of the seating so people can maintain social distancing from one another and only offering sealed or packaged drinks and snacks at the concessions,” said Granbury Parks and Recreation Director Aaron McLain. “Also, in order to better stay in check with the guidelines, we will not be renting our pool out for after-hours private parties until after things return to normal.”

“Our groups are supposed to be limited to no larger than 10, and staff needs to thoroughly sanitize the facility after normal swim hours,” he said.

Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays; and 1-6 p.m. Sundays. The virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to others by infected persons who have few or no symptoms. Even if an infected person is only mildly ill, the people they spread it to may become seriously ill or even die, especially if that person is 65 or older with pre-existing health conditions that place them at higher risk.
