The summer season is in full swing in Granbury! Fourth of July weekend is one of the busiest times of the year in Granbury and at City Beach Park. During this time, it is important to remember the rules and preventative measures the City has in place at City Beach Park to help keep residents and visitors safe.

Safety features at the beach include the rules we already know, as well as some measures that are new this year. Help us make sure everyone has a fun and safe time at City Beach Park this summer by knowing about these initiatives:

• Beach Hours – Beach hours are 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (or sunset as established by the National Weather Service for each specific day, whichever is later). If there is a special event, like Fourth of July, the beach will stay open late.
• Beach Rules – The beach is a City park, which means the same rules for all parks apply. Additionally, there are some rules specific to the beach. For the complete list of rules, see the City Code of Ordinances. Some highlights of the rules include:
  • No pets are allowed on the beach.
  • Fires (this includes grills) are prohibited.
  • Consumption or possession of alcohol is prohibited.
  • No person shall climb, jump from, dive from or fish from the breakwater that serves to separate the swim area from the main body of the lake at City Beach Park.
  • Keep the beach clean. Receptacles are provided throughout the park for waste disposal.
  • Glass containers of every type are prohibited.
• Points of Access – Additional fencing has been added around City Beach Park’s perimeter. This will direct all foot traffic through specifically designated points of entry that are staffed with monitors. Please only enter and exit the beach area through marked gates.
• Life Jacket Loaner Station – Life jackets from the Life Jacket Loaner Station, located on the center of the beach, are free to borrow while at the beach. Please return them to the station before leaving. Learn more about the Eagle Scout Service Project behind the Life Jacket Loaner Station.
• Beach Monitors – A new addition to the beach this summer are the City’s friendly beach monitors. Wearing neon vests with the City logo on the back, the beach monitors are easy to spot if you need assistance at the beach. The beach monitors are there to make sure everyone is following the rules and help beach visitors with questions. If necessary, beach monitors are prepared to alert the police to handle rule-breaking at the beach.
• Granbury Police Department – As always, your Granbury Police Department is available to keep you safe. At times when there will be many people at the beach, like the Fourth of July, there will be officers stationed at the beach. In an emergency, always call 9-1-1.
