City Welcomes New Convention & Visitors Bureau Director

Granbury, Texas – In establishing a Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Department, the City of Granbury has hired Tammy Dooley to lead operations of the newly established department as the CVB
Director.

The CVB Department was established following the City Council’s decision to move the leadership of tourism efforts back to the City from Visit Granbury, Inc. at the October 9, 2018 City Council Meeting.

“Everyone at the City is very excited to have Tammy join our team of wonderful staff here at Granbury,” said Assistant City Manager Michael Ross, “We look forward to many years of success with Tammy at the helm of our Visit Granbury tourism efforts.”
Dooley has extensive experience in public event venue marketing and management along with event promotions. She also brings with her numerous years of hotel convention sales and marketing experience.
“I am thrilled to be working with the City of Granbury to accomplish their goals of increasing the tourism
effort, most specifically, generating overnight, multi-night business to Granbury,” Dooley said, “I
appreciate the confidence they have placed in me, and I look forward to working directly with the
stakeholders to lead the team to move this effort forward.”
Most recently, Dooley served for 14 years as Vice President of Marketing and Promotions for the Midland County Horseshoe Arena – Pavilion – Amphitheater. Dooley also served as Executive Director of the Midland County Fair and was instrumental in the development of the now nine-year-old event.
Additionally, Dooley serves as an Advisory Board Member of Visit Midland Tourism Commission and is affiliated with the Texas Association Fairs and Events and Midland Area Chamber of Commerce.
Dooley has received numerous awards including Awards of Excellence in Marketing and Communications by the Texas Association of Fairs and Events. The most recent distinction was for the
Midland County Fair – Best Overall Fair in 2017 and 2016 for fairs under 50,000 attendance. Dooley has bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University and will receive her Texas Event Leadership Program (TELP) Certification in January 2019. The TELP program is directed by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in the Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University.
She will celebrate her 30th anniversary to her husband Mike this New Year’s Eve. The pair have two
children and three grandchildren. They have made their home in Pecan Plantation for just over five years while also residing in Midland, Texas.
