2 Positive Covid-19 Cases in GISD on 8/14

There were two positive COVID-19 cases in Granbury ISD on Friday, August 14, 2020.  One involved a student at Granbury High School, while the other was a staff member at Granbury Middle School. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the names or details that may identify these individuals.

The district followed state and local protocols in notifying parents by email of the positive tests. Parents who did not receive an email should contact their student’s campus to ensure the school district has current contact information available in Skyward.

The district notified the local health authority Dr. David Blocker regarding both cases and followed recommendations from the Texas Education Agency.

In both cases, all individuals in proximity were wearing masks or face coverings.  This limits “close contact” defined as 15 minutes or longer without a face covering.  Any student or staff member who may have come into close contact were or are being directly notified.  The infected individuals or those in close contact will remain off campus for up to 14 days to ensure they do not have the virus, so that there will not be any further spread.

While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, to watch for symptoms of COVID-19.

All parents, students, and staff members should remain aware of symptoms that indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:

  • Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
  • Sore throat;
  • New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
  • Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
  • New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.

Operations at both schools will continue with current safety protocols in place.  For more information on GISD protocols and procedures, go to www.granburyisd.org/roadmap.

  • Temperatura de 100.4 grados Fahrenheit o más alta cuando se toma por vía oral;
  • Dolor de garganta;
  • Tos nueva incontrolada que causa dificultad para respirar (o, para los estudiantes con tos crónica alérgica / asmática, un cambio en su tos desde el inicio);
